Organizations increasingly face problems that do not fit neatly within one discipline, one function or one technology. A challenge may involve AI adoption, operational redesign, simulation, market analysis, organizational effectiveness, digital systems, customer strategy, or workforce capability – often at the same time.
Through Industry Solutions, UCF assembles interdisciplinary faculty expertise around defined or emerging challenges. With access to expertise from across UCF’s colleges and more than 200 disciplines, these engagements begin with the organization’s desired outcome and draw on academic rigor, practical relevance and broad domain expertise to help partners move from problem definition to actionable solutions.
Solving Complex Organizational and Technology Problems

Industry Solutions is a problem-focused engagement model for organizations seeking help with a strategic, operational, market or capability challenge. It is distinct from traditional sponsored research or grant-based academic inquiry because the work focuses on organization’s specific problem statements, decision needs and path to action.
Research expertise may inform the work, but the goal is to help partners move from problem definition to decisions, recommendations, prototypes, roadmaps, implementation support or longer-term solutions.
Discovery Before Solutions
Many Industry Solutions engagements begin with a 30- to 90-day discovery or assessment period. During this phase, UCF faculty and staff work with the organization to understand the context, refine the problem statement, identify relevant constraints and determine the best path forward. Faculty from multiple colleges may become involved as the challenge becomes clearer.
From there, the engagement may develop into a focused analysis, technology-enabled solution, implementation roadmap, simulation model, market strategy, organizational design recommendation, training pathway, prototype or longer-term partnership. UCF brings a distinctive combination of interdisciplinary expertise, academic rigor and practical relevance to challenges that often cut across functions, technologies and industries.
